The JAM Team Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, headquartered in Erie, Pennsylvania.

JAM (which stands for "Joyce's Amazing Miracle" [and also the initials of Dr. Joyce A. Miller]) was originally created as a support team for Dr. Miller in her 2018-2019 battle with Glioblastoma, a deadly form of brain cancer.

Dr. Joyce Miller is an accomplished sociologist and researcher with more than four decades of experience in early childhood educatio
n.  Working to ensure families have access to high quality early care and education has long been her passion and is now a legacy she wants to leave to her children, her grandchildren and her community.

As part of her recovery, Dr. Miller has taken steps to transform her “JAM Team” into a foundation, under her non-profit corporation, Northwest Institute of Research, to study and promote the importance of high-quality early childhood education and care as a "miracle" which should be available to every family in America.  Starting in Erie, Dr. Miller will be using the foundation as a driving force to realize her vision that all parents should be able to go to work every day knowing that their children are cared for and are experiencing the best of early care and education, which will prepare them for K-12 and beyond.

Dr. Miller believes that having a well-educated and well-prepared workforce is an essential element of any community's economic development, as well as an avenue for poverty reduction and establishing an infrastructure for self-sufficiency for families.

The JAM Team Foundation will be taking steps to realize this vision through a number of initiatives, ranging from funding to supplement gaps in the federally funded child care subsidy system “PA Child Care Works” program, to the establishment of a state-of-the art early childhood education care center, based on global best practices, that will serve as an essential piece of the puzzle of the Downtown Erie economic and workforce development renaissance.
